Château d’Osmond

The estate

Osmond has been growing at Cissac-Médoc since 1987, and some of its vines are more than 75 years old; Frédéric Morlier, of the SCEA des Grûnes, is its grower. The 10 hectares, sandy gravel, fine gravel and sand over thin veins of clay, are planted at 7,000 to 11,000 vines a hectare, 35 years old on average. The estate committed to organic farming in 2022 and is certified by Ecocert: the soil is worked by machine, cover crops are sown, and compost, hedges, sulfur and copper do the rest. It also holds the Cultivons Demain label for social and environmental responsibility.

Merlot leads the blend, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and a little Cabernet Franc: the 2024 is 52% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The wine ages 12 months in French oak barrels, about 50,000 bottles a year. Beside it come L’Amphore de Château d’Osmond, a Vin de France; Le Petit Verdot; a white, Ô d’Osmond; and sparkling wines, Les Bulles. Osmond is a Cru Artisan du Médoc in the classification for the vintages 2022 to 2026.
