Château Moulin de Blanchon

The estate

Henri Négrier bought his first parcel of vines in 1978 at Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, 1 kilometer north of Saint-Estèphe. In 1990 he left the cooperative cellar and turned his old stables into a cellar, and the name Château Moulin de Blanchon was born in 1992. In 2000 he formed a company with his wife and their 2 children as partners, and in 2010 the estate, by then 24 hectares in the Haut-Médoc and 60 ares in Saint-Estèphe, won the mention Cru Bourgeois, which it held again in the classifications of 2020 and 2025. Henri, Sylvain and Vincent Négrier are the cellar masters, and M. Médeville is the consulting oenologist.

The ground is gravel, and clay and limestone, planted to 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon at 8,000 vines a hectare, pruned double Guyot, with vines 40 to 50 years old on average and a yield of 50 hectoliters a hectare. The harvest runs from mid September to early October, by machine since 2008. The wine macerates for 1 month and is aged 12 months in oak. Château les Hauts de Gadet is made from the youngest vines.
