Who we are

Reading the site

Nothing is asked of you. Our host keeps ordinary server logs for delivery and security, and counts visits from those logs without setting anything in your browser.

We also use Google Analytics, and only if you accept it. Until you do, its script is not loaded and nothing is sent to Google; a refusal keeps it that way. It tells us how many people read a page and how they arrived; it never receives your name, your email address or your payment details. We do not profile anyone and we take no decision about you by automated means.

What stays on your device

A cookie recording which edition you read, a cookie carrying a Cru Classé code if you have one, a cookie recording your answer to the banner, and your study progress in local storage. The study progress never reaches us. Two Google Analytics cookies join them only if you accept. The cookie policy names all of them and lets you change your answer.

What you give us

The contact form takes a name, an email address and a message, so we can answer. The Daily Briefing takes an email address, and a name if you offer one, and every email carries an unsubscribe link. Cru Classé takes an email address and an invitation code; payment goes through Stripe and card details never reach us.

Premier Cru Supérieur, the Case Files examination, takes a name, an email address, an Instagram handle if you offer one, and your 20 answers, so that the author can write to you about your sitting; it also keeps a hash of your address for the day, to count sittings, and the country the address resolves to, and never the address itself. The email address is erased 12 months after the sitting and the score kept without it.

Who else handles it

Our host, our database, our email service and our payment processor, each acting on our instructions and bound to confidentiality. Google receives measurement data if you accept it. They are United States services, so information may be processed there; for readers in Europe that transfer rests on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and, for Google, on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We do not sell personal information.

Your rights

Ask us what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask for a copy. Write to antonio@bordeauxreviews.com. We do not charge and we will not treat you differently for asking. Consent can be withdrawn at any moment, on the cookie page, as easily as it was given, and withdrawing it does not undo what was lawful before. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you may also complain to your supervisory authority, and in Brazil to the ANPD.

Children

This site is about wine and is meant for adults of legal drinking age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this changes, the date above changes with it.
