Château Haut Bana

The estate

Haut Bana is an old name at Bégadan. Charles Cocks and Édouard Féret, whose Bordeaux et ses vins was the reference book of the Bordeaux trade, print a Haut-Bana there under Saint-Laurens among the crus bourgeois and first artisans in 1868, and from 1874 a Château-Bana under Léon Perrogon, at 100 tonneaux (the old Bordeaux measure of a crop, 900 liters, or 4 barrels); Féret’s statistical survey of the Gironde gave it 40 hectares of vines on clay and limestone that same year. By 1893 it made 25 tonneaux.

Since 2014 it has belonged to Maison Raymond, the house of Lionel Raymond, a grower at Saint-Laurent-du-Bois, which makes 2 other Médocs at Bégadan: Château des Cabans, also a Cru Bourgeois, and Château Breuil Renaissance. Haut Bana was a Cru Bourgeois through the 2022 vintage, as in the classification of 2020, and a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur from the 2023, the rank it holds in the classification of 2025.
