Château Lalaudey

The estate

Lalaudey sits between Margaux and Saint-Julien on a rise of Tertiary gravel carried down from the Pyrenees. Patrick Meynard bought it in 2007 and Château Pomeys, also in Moulis, in 2008. His vocation goes back to his first harvest, in 1984, at Château Chevrol Bel Air in Lalande-de-Pomerol. The growers of Moulis made him their president from 2017 to 2020 and elected him again on October 11, 2023.

The vineyard is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, with vines 25 years old on average. The grapes are picked by hand and late, sorted in the vineyard and again after destemming, and go to the vats uncrushed; the wine then spends 14 to 18 months in French oak barrels from 8 coopers, half of them new and half after 1 wine. Lalaudey was a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in the classification of 2020 and again in 2025.
