Château Haut-Brisson

The estate

Haut-Brisson was the first property Peter Kwok and his daughter Elaine bought, in 1997, and the start of what became Vignobles K. They sold it in 2019 to Stéphane Schinazi, an entrepreneur born in Bordeaux, and at the sale Vignobles K agreed to work with him on the technical and commercial running of the estate.

The vineyard covers 18 hectares in the south of the appellation, spread over Saint-Émilion, Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens, Vignonet and Libourne, on clay and limestone, fine brown sands, and gravel with coarse sand. It is mostly Merlot with some Cabernet Franc, and the wine is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, aged 15 months in barrels, 40% new, 40% of 1 wine and 20% of 2 wines. The estate has belonged to the Bordeaux wine environmental management system and held Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value, the French state’s environmental certification for farms) at level 3 and ISO 14001 since 2015. The second wine is Château Haut-Brisson La Grave, and since 2024 the estate has also made La Surprise de Haut-Brisson, single-variety wines from the gravel of Sainte-Terre, about 7 kilometers away, raised in steel tanks.
