Château Haut-Corbin

The estate

Haut-Corbin was a property of 13 hectares in the Corbin quarter of Saint-Émilion, and a Grand Cru Classé in the classifications of 1969, 1986, 1996 and 2006. In 1986 it was bought by the Groupe SMABTP, the mutual insurer of the building and public works trades, and it was the first piece of what became a larger estate. On December 31, 2010 the group bought the 15 hectares of Château Grand Corbin, held for 50 years by the Giraud family, and the 4 hectares of Château Le Jurat next door.

The 3 shared a past, stood side by side and sat on similar ground, and in 2012 the INAO allowed them to be run under the single name of Château Grand Corbin. That name, not Haut-Corbin, went into the classification of September 6, 2012 as a Grand Cru Classé, with 28.5 hectares of classified vines. Haut-Corbin ended there as a wine of its own; its vines carry on in Grand Corbin.
