Bordeaux Begins Earliest Ever Red Harvest

Bordeaux began its earliest-ever red grape harvest, according to Wine-Searcher.

Red Bordeaux recorded a 19% drop in export value at the start of 2026.

According to Nomisma Wine Monitor data cited by Wine-Searcher, red Bordeaux export value fell 19% from January through April 2026, while export volume declined 8% and the average value per unit dropped about 12%.

In Bordeaux, it is becoming increasingly difficult to drink Bordeaux

Bordeaux wine consumption has declined in its home region, where bars and restaurants outside tourist areas are increasingly unlikely to offer broad selections. Younger consumers often prefer lighter, fruitier and natural wines over the region’s more structured reds.
