All you need to know about the new Bordeaux Claret classification

Bordeaux has officially brought back the Claret classification, with a revamped style aimed at younger drinkers seeking lighter, fresher red wines. The first new-style Claret wines, made from the 2025 vintage, will reach the wine trade this summer, as Bordeaux et Bordeaux Supérieur PDO volumes have fallen 50% in 5 years.

Panel tasting results: Great-value Right Bank Bordeaux in the spotlight

decanter.com’s May 25 panel tasting covered 137 Right Bank Bordeaux wines, with 16 rated Highly recommended and 80 Recommended; 10 of the 16 Highly recommended wines came from St-Emilion satellite appellations.
