Château La Fleur de Boüard

The estate

Hubert de Boüard, co-owner of Château Angélus, bought this vineyard of 25 hectares in 1998, on the slope that faces the great growths of Pomerol, convinced that Lalande-de-Pomerol could make wines worthy of the greatest appellations. It has grown to 29 hectares: 18 of clay over gravel on the Néac plateau and 11 of large gravel with 15% clay. The blend is 82% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. The grapes are cold-soaked at 8 to 10°C, fermented and left 3 to 5 weeks on the skins, all of it moved by gravity, and the wine ages 15 to 18 months, 50% in new oak and 50% in barrels of 1 wine, without fining or filtration: 130,000 bottles. Le Plus, 100% Merlot from old vines on coarse gravel over clay, spends 33 months in new barrels, 18 of them on the fine lees, and runs to 10,000 bottles. Le Lion, from the young vines, has been the second wine since 2011. The estate also makes a Chardonnay, a Sauvignon, a Syrah, a Pinot Noir and Château du Rosaire, a Bordeaux, and Château Tour du Pas Saint-Georges sits in the same range.
