The estate

The property stands on a rise open to the 4 winds, looking over the bed of the Garonne and toward Château Margaux. It was once Château Arnaud Blanc, a vat house built in 1840 that belonged to the owners of Château Malescot-Saint-Exupéry, and it took the name Clos des Quatre Vents at the start of the 21st century. The Belgian Thienpont family bought it in 2008 and created its wines; in 2014 it passed to a group of Chinese investors, Liaoning Sifang Manor Wine International Trading Co.

The Vignobles des Quatre Vents, a member of the Vignerons Indépendants since 2014, farm 28 hectares: 7 in Margaux, for Clos des Quatre Vents, Tayac-Plaisance and Villa des Quatre Soeurs, 13 in Haut-Médoc for Château Bonneau and 8 in Bordeaux for Z Rouge. The Clos itself comes from 1.33 hectares of clay and gravel over deep gravel, on terraces of Garonne gravel, planted 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, and it is aged 18 months in new French oak barrels, for 2,500 to 3,000 bottles a year.
