The estate

Georges Thomas bought Reverdi in 1953 with 3 hectares of vines. Christian Thomas took it over in 1981 with his wife Danielle, and in 1995 the family joined it to Château l’Ermitage, the property of Roger Thomas, a great-uncle of the present generation, which brought the vineyard to 30 hectares. Audrey and Mathieu Thomas, the 4th generation, run it now, and the births in their generation have each been marked with a cuvée of its own.

What sets Château Reverdi apart is its Petit Verdot: 30 to 35% of the blend. Château l’Ermitage, made alongside it, leans on Merlot. The family also makes Papillon, a dry white, and a rosé, La Marmotte de Reverdi. The vineyard has held Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value, the French state’s environmental certification for farms) since 2015; the plots are grassed, fallow strips are sown for pollinating insects, and the family keeps bees. In February 2025 the classification made Reverdi a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, 1 of 14, from the 2023 vintage.
