The estate
La Fleur Peyrabon is the Pauillac made at Château Peyrabon, the Haut-Médoc estate at Saint-Sauveur, from its vines in the commune of Pauillac. The Millésima group owned the property from 1998 until September 2022, when the Castéja heirs bought it. Xavier Michelet oversees the wine, with Éric Boissenot as consultant.
The vines, 22 years old on average, grow on sandy gravel over a clay subsoil and are planted 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28.5% Merlot and 10.5% Petit Verdot. The wine is fermented in temperature-controlled steel vats and aged 14 months in French oak, 50% new, for about 32,500 bottles; for the 2022 the grapes were sorted optically and macerated 21 days.
