A Pauillac cut from Château Duhart-Milon, bought by Marcel Borie from the Kressmanns and made today, as an estate of its own, by the team of Château Batailley.

The estate
Haut-Bages Monpelou was once attached to Château Duhart-Milon, then a property of the Castéja family, before it was separated from it; Marcel Borie later bought it from the Kressmann family. Today it belongs to the Castéjas as the younger sibling of Château Batailley, and it is run as an independent estate by Batailley’s technical team. Philippe Castéja heads the house of Borie-Manoux, with his son Frédéric as executive director.
The vineyard lies on gravel and is planted 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. The grapes ferment for 14 to 18 days, and the wine ages 18 months in oak barrels, about 30% new. The 2020 is 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
