Croix de Beaucaillou 2011 (Saint-Julien)

Croix de Beaucaillou isn’t just a second wine. It’s a modern project shaped by Bruno Borie’s vision of making something unapologetically stylish from Saint-Julien’s deep gravel terraces. The label sets the tone immediately: bold, ornate, and unmistakably “Beaucaillou”.

2011 was a tricky year, but the Médoc’s gravel helped the best estates find ripeness and balance. Croix shows the vintage’s character in a fresh, medium-bodied frame where Cabernet Sauvignon leads with precision rather than power. It’s a perfect example of how the second wine of a great château can tell you exactly what the property stands for, even in the humbler years.
