Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 2008, Saint Julien

Ducru-Beaucaillou takes its name from the “beautiful pebbles” that define its deep gravel soils overlooking the Gironde estuary. Classified as a Second Growth in 1855, it has long stood as one of the intellectual benchmarks of Saint Julien.

I did not taste this bottle myself, but I had the pleasure of opening it for my wife, who shared it with her friends from VinFemme Society (vinfemmesociety). The Durand did its job perfectly and the cork emerged intact, always a small but meaningful victory with a mature Bordeaux.
