Amiral de Beychevelle is the second wine of Château Beychevelle, made with the same team and the same standards, but selected for earlier pleasure and a slightly more approachable profile. The point is not to imitate the grand vin, but to translate the château’s Saint Julien identity into a shorter drinking window.

In 2021, that approach makes particular sense. The vintage leaned cooler and more classical on the Left Bank, and second wines often shine when freshness and definition are the story rather than sheer volume.
