Château Haut-Lariveau

The estate

Bénédicte and Grégoire Hubau came down from Picardy and started Moulin Pey-Labrie, in Canon-Fronsac, in 1988, and later took on 2 more small vineyards: Les Combes-Canon, 3.5 hectares, and Haut-Lariveau, 4.5. Haut-Lariveau is their Fronsac, all Merlot, from vines 60 years old on average, on clay and limestone valleys and a plateau of clay and gravel over limestone.

It has been certified organic by Ecocert since 2013 and is farmed along biodynamic lines, with some parcels tilled by horse. The grapes are picked by hand and vinified parcel by parcel, soil by soil, and the wine ages 12 to 18 months, 25% of it in new oak.
