Château Haut-Beauséjour

The estate

Haut-Beauséjour is a recent name in an old commune. Champagne Louis Roederer created it in 1992 and kept it until 2017, when Pierre Rousseau bought it; he is president of Rapido Group, 1 of the leading makers of motorhomes in Europe, and already owned Château Laffitte Carcasset in Saint-Estèphe.

The vineyard, about 10 hectares with vines 25 years old on average, lies mostly on the 3rd terrace of the Médoc, on deep, clayey gravel, pruned double Guyot Poussard and planted 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are sorted and fermented in temperature-controlled concrete vats, with the winemaking adapted to each parcel, and the wine spends 12 to 14 months in oak barrels, 50% new and the rest having held 1 wine.
