Château Pape Clément 2016, Pessac-Léognan

Pape Clément takes its name from Pope Clement V, who owned the estate in the 14th century before leaving for Avignon, which became the "new house of the pope" (Chateauneuf du Pape). Today, it is one of Graves’ most historic properties, producing both red and white wines with a reputation for richness and polish.

The 2016 vintage was exceptional across Bordeaux. At Pape Clément, the red shows deep, ripe fruit with silky tannins, wrapped in smoky, mineral notes that reflect the gravel soils of Pessac-Léognan. A wine of both grandeur and finesse. 60% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.
