Château Le Petit Haut Lafitte 2018, Pessac Léognan

Le Petit Haut Lafitte is the second wine of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, created to express the estate’s gravel soils in a style meant to be enjoyed earlier than the grand vin. The wine comes from younger vines and selected parcels of the same vineyard that produces one of Pessac Léognan’s leading classified growths.

The 2018 vintage in Bordeaux combined a wet early season with a hot, dry summer that produced concentrated fruit across the region. In Graves, the deep gravel soils helped vines regulate water stress, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to ripen fully while preserving structure.

This bottle shows the château’s signature balance between ripe fruit, freshness, and the subtle smoky character typical of the best wines from Pessac Léognan.
