The estate
Château Joanin Bécot belongs to Juliette Bécot and her father, Gérard Bécot, whose family also owns Château Beau-Séjour Bécot and Château La Gomerie at Saint-Émilion, and it is at Beau-Séjour Bécot that visitors taste and buy it. The vineyard is 12 hectares of clay and limestone, planted 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are chosen plot by plot and pass over 3 sorting tables; after a cold maceration they are vinified gently in large temperature-controlled tanks, with the cap punched down by hand, and the malolactic runs in barrel.
