The estate
Clos Louie began in 2003, when Pascal Lucin-Douteau inherited a family plot at Saint-Philippe-d’Aiguilhe planted before phylloxera. With Sophie Lucin-Douteau he spread into Saint-Genès-de-Castillon, and the couple has farmed organically from the first day, working as a family. Their plots, on clay, limestone and iron-bearing soils, carry vines from 60 to more than 150 years old.
The grapes ferment as whole berries in small open vats, with the cap punched down for extraction. There are 2 wines, both red Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux: Clos Louie, made since 2003, and Louison & Léopoldine, since 2012.
