Château Cap de Faugères

The estate

Cap de Faugères lies at Sainte-Colombe, on clay and limestone slopes that continue the terroir of Saint-Émilion, and it is made by the same team as Château Faugères and Château Péby Faugères, its sister estates in Saint-Émilion. All 3 belong to Vignobles Silvio Denz. Denz led the Lalique group and built a wine business in Switzerland before he invested in Bordeaux, where the group also owns Château Rocheyron and, in Sauternes, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey.

The vineyard, just over 18 hectares, is planted 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value, the French state’s environmental certification for farms), level 3. Yields are kept small and the berries sorted hard. The wine ferments in stainless steel, for freshness, in a vat room of 20 vats designed by the architects Jean de Gastines and Patrick Dillon.
