Château Sociando-Mallet 1997, Haut-Médoc

Sociando-Mallet, though not included in the 1855 classification, is one of the Haut-Médoc’s most respected estates. Jean Gautreau transformed it after purchasing in 1969, building a reputation for wines of depth and consistency.

The 1997 vintage was modest overall, but Sociando-Mallet often overdelivers. The 1997 shows mature notes of tobacco, earth, and softened fruit, a reminder of the estate’s ability to create wines with character even in less acclaimed years.
