CHÂTEAU PICHON BARON, Pauillac 2016

2016 is known as a great vintage in Bordeaux, and this fantastic 2nd Growth from the 1855 Classification is already within its drinking window. Will it improve with a few additional years (or decades) in the bottle? Definitely yes! But you won’t regret trying it now.

The color is a vibrant garnet. It has an intense nose with aromas of black fruit, spices, and some smokiness. On the palate, the wine is even better, with complex flavors of red and black cherries, plum, strawberries, blackberries, wood, and spices. It is a big, powerful wine. The tannins are still rough but already pleasant. Acidity is high, and the finish is extra long. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot.
