Château Fonréaud 2015 (Listrac-Médoc)

Château Fonréaud sits on the historic ridge that divides the Médoc’s Atlantic winds from its Gironde breezes. The name itself comes from an old legend that the King once drank “the chilled fountain” here during a hunting trip. Listrac can be rustic in lesser years, but 2015 blessed the appellation with ripe, velvety tannins and unusually charming fruit.

I love to explore the lesser known Bordeaux appellations, and this bottle shows exactly why Fonréaud is one of Listrac’s quiet overachievers. Dark berries, warm spice, a fresh cedar lift and that unmistakable Médoc structure, all wrapped in a vintage that gives pleasure without asking for patience.
