Château Cantemerle 2016, Haut Médoc

Cantemerle’s place in the 1855 Classification was not automatic. It was initially omitted and only added shortly after the official list was published, following formal protest and correction. That detail still defines how the estate is perceived today, slightly outside the spotlight, but firmly within the hierarchy.

The 2016 vintage is one of the most complete of the modern era on the Left Bank, built on a long, even growing season. At Cantemerle, it brings a sense of precision that feels almost architectural, where each component sits exactly where it should. There is nothing excessive here. The wine is shaped more by alignment than by power.
