Château Haura

The estate

For 100 years Château Haura has joined 2 old properties of Illats, Hillot and Haura. Its reputation was built on a sweet Cérons; the vineyard has since been largely replanted to red, but a few barrels of noble-rot wine are still made, a thread back to what the name once meant. Denis Dubourdieu took the estate on in 2002, and since his death in 2016 his family has carried it on with its other estates. It covers about 15 hectares, 13 of them in production, on 2 gravelly rises separated by a small valley, with vines 22 years old on average.

The red Graves is fermented in stainless steel with gentle punching down and aged 12 months in barrel; the 2020 is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. The sweet Château Haura Cérons is 100% Sémillon grown on gravel, fermented and aged 9 months in barrels and wooden vats.
