Last night at floridawineacademy event, we tasted Château La Pointe Pomerol 1989, a great example of the ripe and powerful 1989 vintage. Pomerol’s structure helped it evolve beautifully over time, with layers of dark plums, prunes, figs, smoke, spices, and tobacco. I opened it 2 hours prior the event, decanted for 45 minutes, and served it blind. Guests were surprised, thinking it was from the 2000s, because of its vibrant character and complexity in the glass. Great bottle!
