Earlier today we attended a private tasting organized by Domaine Clarence Dillon, owners of Châteaux Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion.

We tasted their great lineup of reds and whites of the 2024 vintage.

For the reds, we had La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion, Le Clarence de Haut-Brion, La Mission Haut-Brion, and Haut-Brion. In a challenging year, it really matters what you do in the vineyard and in the cellar. Here, they went through 4 separate sortings, a delicate pump over, and little extraction. All this work and attention to detail paid off. The wines are structured, complex, very alive and exciting. They will be approachable when young, but I wouldn’t be surprised if these wines reward those who are patient enough to wait.

For the whites, we tasted La Clarté de Haut-Brion, La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, and Haut-Brion Blanc. Exceptional and intense aromas, these wines are fresh and vibrant.
