The estate
Marsau belongs to Anne-Laurence and Mathieu Chadronnier: she comes from Brittany and makes the wine, he comes from the border of the Gironde and the Dordogne and sells it. The vineyard lies in the hill country of Francs, above the Dordogne, an island of vines between woods and meadows, and its deep clays call for Merlot, which leads the plantings and the wines. There are 2 wines, Marsau and Prairie, the second named for the lieu-dit across a country road; after 2 harvests in a row were lost to the weather, Prairie came back with the 2019, under a label painted in gouache by Pauline Taugourdeau. The Chadronniers mean Marsau to be a place of encounters, and it has hosted photographers, sommeliers and artists, among them Gunther Vincente, Victor Cornec and Benjamin Juhel.
