The estate
The Thienpont family bought Les Charmes-Godard in 1988, and Nicolas Thienpont, who also runs Château Pavie Macquin and Château Larcis Ducasse, manages it. The vines grow mostly on clay and limestone, with some silty ground over marl. There is a red and a white, and the family puts its ambition in the white: it works it like a great white Bordeaux, fermenting it in barrel and keeping it on its lees, with the revival of the appellation in mind. About 15,000 bottles are made.
