How to read this

Capitals mark the stressed syllable. “zh” is the s in “measure”. “ew” is “ee” said with rounded lips. “ahn” is a nasal vowel: say it through the nose, with no n. The French r comes from the back of the throat. The recording is the reference.

A Bordeaux brokerage that deals in wine by the vat as well as in bottle, from every appellation of Bordeaux, run by the 5th generation of brokers in the Jourdan family.

The house

Brokerage has run in the Jourdan family for 5 generations. Emeric Jourdan joined the family office in 2004, and on January 2, 2007 the family’s brokerage business was brought into a new company, Bureau Jourdan, which he manages. The same year he passed the broker’s examination before his peers; in 2008 he joined the association of the wine and spirits brokers of the Gironde.

Bureau Jourdan brokers wine in bulk, the trade between growers and négociants (merchants who buy from the châteaux and sell on) by the vat, and wine in bottle, across every appellation of Bordeaux. In 2012 Emeric Jourdan took over the direction of the house and added spirits to it.
