Capitals mark the stressed syllable. “ew” is “ee” said with rounded lips. “ahn” is a nasal vowel: say it through the nose, with no n. The French r comes from the back of the throat. The recording is the reference.

Nicolas Ballarin and Cédric Roureau took over this Bordeaux brokerage in 2016 and kept its name of 1997; since 2020 Cédric Roureau has also led the brokers’ association of Bordeaux.

The house

Bureau Blanchy et de Lestapis was set up in Bordeaux on January 1, 1997. In 2010 Nicolas Ballarin and Cédric Roureau started a company of their own, and on April 30, 2016 it took over the older firm, with its name and its brokerage. The 2 have run it together since. Both are sworn brokers, on the list the court of appeal of Bordeaux published for 2026.

Cédric Roureau began as a courtier (a broker, who places a château’s wine with the merchants) in 1993, in the office of Max de Lestapis, where he placed contracts to buy wine in bulk. The firm specializes in the grands crus classés of Bordeaux and still places contracts for wine in bulk beside them. In 2020 he became president of the Syndicat régional des courtiers en vins et spiritueux de Bordeaux, de la Gironde et du Sud-Ouest, the association of the region’s wine and spirits brokers. Those were the years when a new examination and a national list of brokers changed the way into the trade.
