Château Majoureau

The estate

The Delong family has worked Château Majoureau at Caudrot for 5 generations, and Mathieu runs it today. The vines were already there in 1922, when Charles Cocks and Édouard Féret, whose Bordeaux et ses vins was the reference book of the Bordeaux trade, listed Majoureau, in Caudrot, under Comblat, with 10 tonneaux (the old Bordeaux measure of a crop, 900 liters, or 4 barrels) of red and 20 of white.

The estate has 38 hectares of vines on gravel, clay and limestone and silty clay. Its sweet white, Château Majoureau, carries the Côtes de Bordeaux-Saint-Macaire: 90% Sémillon and 10% Sauvignon, kept 6 months in vat. The family also makes Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur.
